Aziz Yehia is a multi-instrumentalist, specializing in percussion and drum kit. His engaging pedagogical style was shaped by his background in cultural anthropology at UC Berkeley, where he studied music education and community building in Rio de Janeiro. Aziz grew up with a background in classical and jazz, then continued to gather influences from global traditions while spending time in Turkey, Egypt, and the multicultural Bay Area. Aziz nurtures an adventurous spirit that has led him to many unorthodox and formative experiences, ranging from meditative didgeridoo explorations to eco-touring across the Western US with a bicycle-generator sound system. As a teacher, Aziz prioritizes patience and intuition – always determined to bend an ear towards the unexpected desires of each student.
