Sundays with SMYO

 

                     What is "Sundays With SMYO"?
Based out of Virginia Avenue Park (2200 Virginia Ave, Santa Monica), this tuition-free music education program has served the Pico neighborhood since 2012. With multiple orchestra levels, music fundamental classes, and traditional Chinese & Balkan ensembles, there is a class for everyone. Want to join? Register HERE.

Open To All

Thanks to generous contributions from foundations and donors, "Sundays with SMYO" is completely tuition-free to all participants. We believe in eliminating as many barriers into music education as possible.

We are open to any person (ages 6-18) who can commit to attending weekly rehearsals. We hold Placement Interviews in the beginning of each semester to match students with the ensemble level that will best serve them.

 

Ensembles: 

  • 1-1:45pm Beginner Violin (a musician's first experience on the violin)
  • 1-2pm Prelude Orchestra (placement based, must play in school and have minimum 6 months experience)
  • 2:15-4pm Sound Travelers Orchestra (placement based, generally 2-4 years playing experience)
  • 3-5pm Avanzati Orchestra (placement based, generally 4+ years playing experience)
  • 12-1pm Balkan Ensemble (open to all at the beginning of each semester, parents included!)
  • 12-1pm Chinese Ensemble (open to all students!)
