Award-winning soprano Julia Johnson is a recent graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s University, where she graduated with a double emphasis in Music Education and Vocal Performance. Originally from Washington State, she moved to Los Angeles for her Bachelor’s degree and became immersed in LA’s diverse and abundant music scene. Ms. Johnson has a passion for opera and classical vocal techniques and has studied and performed in Italy and Austria at the International Vocal Artists Academy of Payerbach. Ms. Johnson also performs professionally and sings musical theatre, pop, classical, jazz repertoires, and specializes in vocal improvisation. Ms. Johnson studies voice with UCLA Professor of Voice, Vladimir Chernov, and she looks forward to pursuing her Masters degree in Vocal Performance next year.
In addition to performing, Ms. Johnson has a love for music education. Ms. Johnson is a vocal coach for award-winning high school show-choirs around Los Angeles and she conducts masterclasses for choirs and soloists of all levels and styles. In addition to being an accapella coach and an adjunct director and conductor at multiple high schools, Ms. Johnson also maintains a private voice studio.
Ms. Johnson looks forward to performing professionally as well as teaching others to find their most authentic voice. She plans to continue studying vocal performance and she ultimately hopes to combine her love for the performing arts with her passion for music education and humanitarian activism.
